You will be presented with 48 objects, two at a time, with each pair of objects presented for 2.5 seconds.
Memorize the visual details of every object. You will later be tested on your memory for the studied objects. If you only memorize the object category (e.g., winter clothing) but not the specifics (e.g., brown jacket), you will not do well on the test.
Below is an example study trial. Two objects are presented, along with a suitable background (e.g., wintery scene for winter clothing).
Later in the experiment, after you've studied all 48 objects, your memory will be tested. One object will be displayed in the center of the screen along with its appropriate background image. You will be asked whether the center object is one of the objects you initially studied ("Old") or if you've never seen the object before ("New").
Below is an example test trial. Since this object was presented in one of the study trials, you would click "Old" here.
